臺中市長胡志強20日接受專訪時被問到，市區道路不平問題是民眾不滿意最高的部分，甚至有民眾反映，因為在市區騎車道路顛頗，導致她不敢懷孕，對此胡志強表示，市府每年提出3億以上專款用於改善道路，還率全國之先辦理十大爛路票選，表示市府有決心要改善。

胡志強也解釋，據他了解道路不平有三項原因，分別為道路工程回填與查核不實，路久失修與重車行駛；對此，可能肇因於過去工程不夠理想，導致下雨後道路破損，他已經要求道路破損一定要在2天內補實，且提每年提出3億元以上的專款，用於改善道路，且為免人謀不贓，只要建設局工程完工，一定指示政風處親自查核。

胡志強也說，臺中市率全國之先辦理民眾十大爛路活動，該活動選出的10條爛路，都被列為優先改善道路，每條道路都會要求政風處與專家仔細查核，而且到了第二年，若是民眾再度表決該道路仍是爛路，他會要求主辦人負責下臺。民眾仍能透過各種方式反映道路品質，如果反應熱烈，明年甚至可以票選30條大爛路，以表示市府有決心改善道路品質。

胡志強也表示，道路不平問題可能太過嚴重，導致市府已經十分努力，但民眾還沒有辦法完全感受到。他常常要求同仁不要解釋問題，應該要解決問題，市府一定會想辦法解決道路不平問題。
