林書豪和隊友貝佛利 (Patrick Beverley)的控球後衛之爭，已經完全爆發，林書豪確定是火箭先發主控，地位很穩固，但貝佛利的出色防守與積極、富侵略性打法，隨時都可能威脅表現一旦失常的林書豪。

休士頓紀事報最近做出一分民調統計，有將近4000名火箭球迷參與投票，有84%的球迷力挺林書豪擔任先發主控，只有16%的球迷支持貝佛利。

貝佛利最精采，令人印象深刻的表現在上季季後賽對雷霆，貝佛利把握林書豪受傷機會，六場系列賽五次先發，場均打出11.8分、5.5籃板、2.8助攻、1.2抄截的數據，贏得隊友和教練信任。
