僅管入札金已經大幅降低，田中將大這名今年在日本職棒球季全勝的投手，這次勇闖大聯盟，也不見得是所有球隊都感到興趣。

波士頓環球報的Peter Abraham日前的報導指出：「根據消息來源的說法，雖然波士頓紅襪隊對田中將大的球技肯定，但是他們應該不會加入爭取這名右投手的行列。」

不過Peter Abraham就只有寫這麼多，沒有對這件事多做解釋，就紅襪的先發陣容看，Jon Lester，John Lackey， Jake Peavy，Clay Buchholz， Felix Doubront，Ryan Dempster，他們至少有6名投手搶5個輪值工作，在先發投手這一塊，也已經花了很多錢，的確可以不用再花大錢去搶田中將大。

而且不只田中將大，其他自由市場上的先發投手，像Ubaldo Jimenez， Matt Garza跟 Ervin Santana等，紅襪也不太會出手，除非他們的價格，降到可接受的範圍。

但是即便少了紅襪的競爭，也不意味著田中將大的身價會降低，包括洋基，水手，道奇，都是有可能出大錢買下他的球隊，最後馬君花落誰家，接下來的兩三個禮拜就會曉得。
