【國際中心／綜合外電報導】美國北卡羅萊納州一名7歲女童罹患肥大細胞增生症（mastocytosis），幸好她的愛犬「JJ」總是在出現嚴重過敏症狀前發出警告，這才屢屢化險為夷。這名女童日前接受手術，連醫院都破例讓JJ進開刀房幫忙監測，幸好手術一切順利。

美國廣播公司（ABC）報導，這名病患因罹患罕病，常無預警出現蕁麻疹或呼吸困難等症狀，JJ被訓練出可察覺主人的細微變化，能以轉圈及吠叫等方式提出警告。因此杜克大學醫學中心特別破例，讓洗過澡的JJ進手術室幫忙。麻醉醫師泰切爾說：「儘管我們有價值幾百萬的醫療器材，但這隻小狗顯然更幫得上忙。」
