第51屆十大傑出青年將於10月13日接受表揚，彰化縣新當選人為來自柬埔賽的新住民的林麗蟬，11日上午她返回母校建國科技大學，受到師長及學弟妹們熱烈歡迎。

林麗蟬來自柬埔寨的新住民，十六年前經過相親嫁到臺灣，她說，如果當時沒有到國小當志工，沒有到建國科技大學美容系進修，他就不會立志要利用在校所學從事公益活動，為臺灣社會貢獻己力，她呼籲幾十萬新住民朋友要勇敢走出家庭，利用臺灣完備的教育體系從事語言及技能訓練，迅速融入臺灣社會，利已助人。

林麗蟬表示，她的美容美髮專長是在建國科技大學美容系學的，她目前可以操著流利的國語與人交談也是在建國科技大學學的，雖然她已經在今年八月畢業，她覺得建國科技大學才是讓她真正溶入臺灣社會的地方，所以她膺選十大傑出青年這個榮譽後，首先就想到要回到母校與師長及學弟妹們分享。

林麗蟬是51屆社會服務類十大傑出青年，未來她要招募許多青年志工從事志工服務工作，幫助弱勢的新住民家庭子女爭取更多福利，從事社區老人關懷照顧。她呼籲新住民朋友一定要勇於走出家庭，學得一技之長，幫助自己也可幫助別人，並謝謝母校的栽培與指導。
