ASE August sales up 7%
Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Tuesday 10 September 2013]
IC packager Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE) has announced August consolidated revenues of NT$18.83 billion (US$635.2 million), increasing 7.4% sequentially and hitting the highest level since December 2012.
ASE's consolidated sales consist of revenues generated by EMS subsidiary Universal Scientific Industrial (USI). ASE's cumulative 2013 consolidated revenues through August amounted to NT$135.3 billion, rising 11.9% from a year earlier.
ASE's core IC ATM (assembly test and material) operations reported revenues of NT$12.56 billion in August 2013, up 3% on month and 10.9% on year.
Previous reports quoted industry sources as saying that a pull-in of orders for handset ICs would buoy ASE's IC ATM revenues in August. Meanwhile, its utilization rate for system-in-package (SiP) has risen since August thanks to growing demand for Wi-Fi modules and fingerprint sensors.
ASE has guided its IC ATM business will post a revenue increase of 1-5% sequentially in the third quarter of 2013.
