2013年名人堂儀式於9日舉行，前NBA球星「手套」Gary Payton就在這天獲得籃球生涯最至高無上的殊榮，在這感人的時刻，「嘴上功夫」一流的他自然也是妙語如珠。

「我必須感謝身後的這兩位，George Gervin，他是我的英雄，我從小看著他打球長大的，謝謝你來。」伴著掌聲，Payton一上台就開宗明義對推薦他的前輩致謝。

另一位是傳奇控衛John Stockton，日前Payton才說過，他認為Stockton比「籃球之神」Michael Jordan更難防守。

「很多人問我，為什麼我會認為他比Jordan難守，我只能說，那是我的意見，就這樣啊。」Payton笑說。

Payton是9屆NBA「年度防守第一隊」，獲得1次「年度最佳防守球員」，入選過9次明星賽，同時也是1996年亞特蘭大、2000年雪梨奧運「美國夢幻隊」成員之一。
