沙烏地阿拉伯衛生部通報稱，該國又有3人死於中東呼吸系統綜合徵冠狀病毒(即新型冠狀病毒)，沙國因感染該病毒死亡的人數升至47人。

根據新華社報導，沙特衛生部說，這3名死者中，有2人來自沙特西部城市麥地那，其中1人在醫院工作；另1人來自首都利雅得。衛生部同時宣布，感染此病毒的病例新增了5例。

截至目前，全球新型冠狀病毒感染病例達到110例，其中沙特占96例；全球新型冠狀病毒死亡病例為52例，沙特獨占47例。

美國和沙特研究人員發現蝙蝠是新型冠狀病毒可能的動物源頭。針對此種高致死率的病毒還沒有有效的疫苗和治療措施。
