苗栗縣長杯躲避球賽今天起一連三天登場，開幕式在通霄國中球場熱鬧展開，來自全縣各國中小、高中、大專院校及社會人士組隊報名，共50支隊參賽，選手近千人。

雖然天氣轉冷，天空又飄著細雨，但選手們從閃躲、擲球到接手都表現得十分俐落。苗栗縣體育總會躲避球委員會總幹事徐友一表示，受到少子化的衝擊，今年參加人數雖有些許減少，但球員實力不容小覷，競爭相當激烈。開幕首日先進行國小組男女生競賽、明天是國中組，後天則是社會組，每組各組取前四名，冠軍還可代表縣級參加全國比賽。
