37歲的A.J. Burnett還要再戰！只是不知道，他是否遵循去年10月的承諾：如果不退休，就會重回海盜陣營。

Burnett去年為海盜投191局，送出209次三振，兩項都是球隊第一名。戰績則是10勝11敗、防禦率3.30。海盜闖進闊別已久的季後賽，但沒能走得多遠，球季結束後，成為自由球員的Burnett宣稱，如果沒有回來海盜隊，就會退休。

這個「二選一」，海盜隊遲遲沒有得到答案，上個禮拜，球隊總裁Frank Cooelly告訴媒體，對於Burnett的動向，海盜隊已經「向前看」了，但要是這位投手願意回來，海盜也會敞開大門歡迎。

「要是Burnett要給我們驚喜，明天就打電話給我，說他找回熱情跟鬥志，就跟過去這兩年一樣有決心，我們會很高興、歡迎他回來，」Coonelly說，「我們也有足夠的薪資空間。」

Burnett雖然沒說要不要，但根據海盜隊投手教練Ray Searage的說法，這位投手一直在訓練體能，為再戰做準備。現在幾乎可以確定，Burnett續投2014年球季，問題在於，他會回到海盜隊嗎？
