NCAA執行長堅決反對付錢給大學運動員

經過前一陣子吵得沸沸揚揚，是否應該付錢讓NCAA球員打球的議題，今天NCAA執行長艾默特明確表示，NCAA不打算改變堅決不付錢給學生運動員的立場。

艾默特說：「即使像是熱火隊詹姆斯這種球員跳過大學直接進入NBA，NCAA錦標賽和最終4強的熱度依然存在。而現在學校至少已經提供每個運動員1萬到2萬5千美元不等的運動獎學金。」

艾默特對於學生運動員是否能夠接受額外利益的議題，一直採取極度保守立場，但又無法解釋現有制度中，各大名校依靠籃球和美式足球賺進大把鈔票，卻無法和運動員共享的矛盾。有些人甚至建議，根據今年德州農工大學的4分衛曼塞爾今年因販賣簽名商品而沒被NCAA處以重刑的案例來看，或許球員可以考慮以賣簽名和相關個人商品來找到其他經濟上的突破。
