洛杉磯湖人繼前一天宣布「紫金一哥」Kobe Bryant整季報銷後，14日「再接再厲」公布控衛Steve Nash也提前放暑假。

總教練Mike D'Antoni親口證實，Nash本季不再出賽，即使距離例行賽結束還有5個星期，球團還是決定讓這位40歲老將好好休養。

Nash本季飽受背傷困擾，打打停停，只出賽10場，平均7.6分、4.7助攻，不過今年2月邁入不惑之年的他不願輕言退休。

「這就是現實。」Nash表示：「我不會提前退休，因為我想要錢。」

Nash與湖人的合約到2014-15年結束，如果他選擇繼續披上球衣，就能領到970.1萬美元年薪。
